The 8th grade basketball season runs from mid-October through Winter Break. The teams' primary goals are to build strong relationships on and off the court while learning the game, having fun, and preparing for basketball at the next level. Tryouts will be held, and roster cuts will be made.
The schedule includes approximately 10 regular-season games plus an end-of-season tournament just before Winter Break. Practices are typically held after school, Monday through Friday, with a few am practices throughout the season.
The girl's team is coached by Jeff Yin, the Educational Support Counselor at FMS. Coach Yin has been involved with the FMS and LHS girls basketball programs for many years, and we’re excited to welcome him back full-time at the middle school level. Prior to the 2025-2026 season, he served as the JV girls head coach and varsity assistant coach at Liberty for five seasons.
The boy's team is coached by Brian Kingery, the Art Teacher at FMS. In addition to basketball at FMS, Coach Kingery also coaches baseball at LHS. He runs our Art Club at FMS and a summer program for aspiring artists. Coach Kingery is a vital part of the FMS family helping students to foster a love for both athletics and the arts.
